2014 Pathogen-associated genes update

Each gene in a given genome is labelled as "Pathogen" (found predominately in pathogens), "Common" (found in both pathogens and non-pathogens), or "Nonpathogen" (found predominately in nonpathogens) based on a BLAST similarity search against the deduced proteomes of 1,277 pathogenic and 1,517 non-pathogenic sequenced prokaryotic genomes downloaded from the National Center for Biotechnology Information FTP site in September, 2014. An e-value cut-off of 10-7 was used to exclude distant homologs. Pathogen or non-pathogen status for each genome was manually curated for all new genomes since the last analysis and are also displayed below.
